ACE CREATIVE LAB

FAIRY TALE WORKSHOP

We invite you on a five-day creative journey where you’ll become an author and illustrator. Together with ACE book creator Gabija and creative mentor Joana, we’ll create, draw, and experiment.
This time, we’ll dive into the Fairy Tale Laboratory — putting our own spin on a well-known fairy tale, exploring unexpected plot twists, creating new characters, and imagining different endings. We’ll experiment with a variety of creative techniques and learn the basics of bookbinding.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The camp is designed for children aged 7–14.

No previous experience is needed — all you need is curiosity and a desire to create. The camp is bilingual, continuing the tradition of the ACE book, with activities in both Lithuanian and English.

If you’re outside this age group but dream of becoming an author or illustrator, write to us at info@aceknyga.com — we’d be happy to have you join us.

CAMP DATES

By the end of the camp, each child will:

  • reimagine and reinterpret a well-known fairy tale in their own way;
  • discover their own illustration style and experiment with different techniques;
  • learn the basics of book layout and structure;
  • learn the basics of bookbinding and bind their own book;
  • experience the full creative journey, from the first idea to a finished book;
  • present their creation to family members and experience what it means to be an author and illustrator.

Day 1 – The World of Fairy Tales & Ideas
We’ll explore the world of fairy tales, choose a story to reimagine, and begin developing our ideas and first sketches.

Day 2 – Illustration & Creative Experiments
We’ll try different illustration techniques and explore our own unique visual styles.

Day 3 – Cover Design
We’ll design and create the cover for our own book.

Day 4 – Bookbinding
We’ll learn the basics of bookbinding, finish our books, and experiment with linocut printing.

Day 5 – Book Presentation & Camp Celebration
Book presentation, diplomas, and celebrating the end of our creative journey together.

WHAT WILL WE DO AT THE CAMP?

What if Cinderella lost a skateboard instead of a glass slipper? Or what if the wolf was actually a pretty nice guy? What if the fairy tale ended in a completely different way?

In this laboratory, anything is possible! Together, we’ll create new versions of well-known fairy tales: drawing, changing the plots, inventing unexpected characters, and letting our imaginations do what they do best. There’s no one right answer here — just your creativity and the story you choose to tell in your own way. ✨

ORGANIZERS

Gabija Gasiunas

ACE book author, illustrator & publisher

After completing her Master’s degree at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Gabija founded her own successful independent publishing house and created the bilingual ACE book series. For Gabija, creativity is more than just a job — it’s a way of life.

During the camp, she’ll open the doors to the world behind the books: how an idea becomes a sketch, how a sketch turns into an illustration, and how illustrations come together to become a real book. She’ll teach children not only the theory and practice of illustration, but also how to confidently express themselves through creativity.

Gabija might even find it easier to connect with children than adults. She speaks their language, encourages their wildest ideas, and knows how to spark that creative fire in every child.

Joana Monastyreckienė

Creative mentor

Creator, event organiser, mum, and someone who simply has a way with children. Joana is constantly involved in creative projects — writing, filming, organising — and brings that same energy and enthusiasm to the camp.

During the camp, Joana helps children discover that writing doesn’t have to feel like hard work or a school assignment. It’s a space to experiment, laugh, play, and surprise yourself. In her sessions, the group quickly comes alive, the energy rises, and stories begin to flow naturally.

Joana also shares relaxation techniques that help children let go, feel more confident, and create without being afraid of making mistakes — because the best stories often appear when you simply give yourself permission to play with words.

Spaces are limited – only 10 children per camp session.
